If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (John :7)
Of necessity we must be in Christ to live unto Him, and we must abide in Him to be able to claim
The largesse of this promise from Him. To abide in Jesus is never to quite Him for another love or another object, but to remain in living, loving, conscious, willing union with Him. The branch is not only ever near the stem but ever receiving life and fruitfulness from it. All true believers abide in Christ in a sense, but there is a higher meaning, and this we must know before we can gain unlimited power at the throne. “Äsk what ye will” is for the likes of Enoch, and such women and men who walk with God, and for men like John who die lie propped up against on the Lord’s chest, for those whose union with Christ leads to constant communion.
The heart must remain in love, the mind must be rooted in faith, the hope must be cemented to the Word, the whole man must be joined unto The Lord or else it would be dangerous to trust us with power in prayer. The carte blanche can only be given to one whose very life is, “Not I, but Christ liveth in me.”
O you who break your fellowship, what power you lose! If you would be mighty in your pleadings, the Lord Himself must abide in you, and you in Him!
Comment: My beloved friend, we are in the midst of The Great Falling Away. Just because almost everyone is abandoning their churches, that does not mean they are right and you are wrong to continue to attend and support your church. If you leave and 10 more leave soon enough there won’t be a church there anymore. The pastors may need your attention. If they are preaching a prosperity gospel, and setting up some activity on every day of the calendar, and turning the sanctuary into some sort of entertainment theater, you and many of similar thinking must meet these church leaders and say you want the unvarshined truth.
Society is a mess because we are not influenced by the Pastors and the Holy Word of God and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our homes and our lives. There is no acceptable excuse for the outrageous behaviors that go on under some rooves. The schools are teaching that every sort of sexual sin is acceptable and to be celebrated. The colleges support this and worse.
There is the presumption is that the financial markets can be corrupted. The landlords can charge whatever they wish and if they force people to sleep on the sidwalks they pay no attention because their emotional hearts are made of cold stone! We must resist these behaviors until they break or we break! We must not give up, because if we do all of Western society will fall into bondage to Satan and the worst of prophecies about enslavement and war will come about while you and I starve and watch, powerless to prevent our own victimization!
Your Bible is our best resource so let’s refer to it.
