I have for some long time been developing a new concept Shopping Magazine for the Greater New York City Area. YOUR business is presently appearing in the first edition of the magazine.

It is intended to help YOU have More Customer Traffic, and help shoppers find the businesses that can best serve them easily. They can shop more efficiently.

I have worked in the print sales business for several years. This magazine is On-Line, not on paper. That provides a great many advantages to you, me, and the readers.

For the readers it’s always clean, new and can be updated quickly. For you, different products, sales, and prices can be displayed very quickly. Pages you had placed can be altered. Sometimes done at no charge.

I cannot tell you about what I’m doing. I must show it to you. So, I’ve produced a starter/sample edition of the magazine and I will continue to expand it. Your Business is in it, so naturally you’ll want to see what I’m doing and I want you to see it and give your approval or work with me to make updates and changes, which I’ll do at no charge.

The ad can be removed if you require that option. That would be disappointing. I’ve spent a good amount of time and effort producing each ad. I have a lot of training and experience in “ad copy writing.” I’ve gotten awards from ad agencies for my work.

I know what works and what doesn’t and what huge mistakes I see on line. Those mistakes are wasting tons of money and doing nothing to help some of the Auto Dealers.

I’m just trying to offer constructive criticism. We can change a few phrases or even a word or two and encourage more viewers t visit your Automobile Dealership.

I saw that many Auto Dealer’s websites needed better sales phrases, and words that are proven to sell. In some cases I’ve improved what was there in a detail page. I hope you’ll see a few of them very soon.

Right now the advertising is working for you FREE of charge. There’s a web page counter in the lower left corner. You can see the page count, keep track on paper, and know how many visitors your ad is getting.

You can’t do that with newspapers or paper magazines.

With the visit counter working, you know if the ad is gaining attention. You can ask new customers, “Did you come in after seeing us in a newspaper or magazine?” Some will say, “Oh yeah, I did. I saw you in New York City Area Shopper Magazine.

We are just beginning to reach out to gain more reader traffic. This allows me to offer advertising space to you at deep discounts. You know what the local papers charge for ad space. I think we can offer prices with which they can’t compete.

When you tell them that you got started with me for (for example) $100 per week, or less, they’ll say “that’s impossible.” Their blood will run cold. They have enjoyed years of big profits because they had a monopoly. (had past tense.)

We’re not Vogue, or Conde Naste Traveler, or NY Times T-Magazine. But we’re developing a similar appearance as I learn to use newer software.

The concept is a magazine that is a bit of travel, fashion, and shopping. It’s categorized similarly to the old Yellow Pages Phone Directories. It’s really exclusively for New York City, Long Island, a bit of New Jersey near the city….

That’s important because you’re not thrown in with advertising to anywhere in the world, which can happen with Google. Some viewer in The Philippines can type “Apartments for rent” and he gets ads from Houston, Texas! He clicks and the landlord in Houston pays $3.00 and he will be forced to pay for it.

You must be very careful with an operation like Google, Facebook, or YouTube.

The entire world in theory can see this website but it’s pointedly for the New York City Area. All of my promotion is pointed to New York City Area residents. Nobody else is doing that for one city.

I have begun pointing prospective car buyers to your phone, your website, and through your door.

Google, the way it is set up now, cannot do that! It did not replace the phone directories. It disrupted them and then it betrayed the readers.

I got interested in the ad world at age 15. I made my living from age 18 to 24 selling advertising into newspapers and magazines. I was taking a 2-year degree in TV Production but what I really went to school for was the Advertising Course. The Radio performance study was useful too and when I place a few ads on YouTube you might hear them or see them and decide if I’m right or not.

I was also studying the great names in the advertising “copy writing” business and learning what to say and what phrases work, and what to avoid saying.

(“Copy” means the words written in the ad. A Copywriter writes those words. No one buys exclusively because of photos. More about that later….)

You can only learn to be a good copywriter by reading books and articles written by the older great men in the business. Then rewrite and critique many of the sales letters they wrote. I’ve read several and pay particular attention to those who have proven to be the best in the business.

By the way, Artificial Intelligence cannot be creative. It is simply stealing what was written by a successful writer, and reusing it.

I started winning big sales and big awards from advertisers and the ad agencies I worked for. The advertisers were getting more customer traffic because of what I was writing for them.

Telling you about what I’m “going to do” won’t help us.

There is no way that I know to sell into a magazine until I have something to SHOW to You. So I have for several months been working away at this project.

At the end of August I launched https://nycAreaShopper.com/ Right now I’m showing it to a selected few business operators.

I’ll be doing much more with social media to attract viewers. That’s part of the reason I want to advertise your business. I need something for people to see, and I’d be grateful for a little help to expand the effort, in exchange for which you’ll get discounted pricing, and much more exposure than you’re buying.

I expect this magazine to grow because the city and Long Island need it. There are too many problems and a nasty winter coming. Buyers would often prefer to begin shopping on-line safe and warm at home.

When the sales associate tells the prospect he/she has the model the prospect wants, and that it runs well and look like nearly new, they’ll make an appointment to give it a test drive. Some dealers bring the car to the prospect. The prospect has no where else to go. She’s home, the sales associate is there. She’s going to test drive that car.

These prospective buyers will snoop around through a magazine like our New York City Area Shopper Magazine and finally call in and ask questions. Let’s remember, when they pick up the phone, or read your ad, the first thing they’re thinking is, “Who can I talk to?” Consequently I place your contact information where it’s easily seen immediately.

I also use larger “Web Safe” type faces and BLACK color; like what you’re reading here. These particular type faces or “fontsare recommended for people who have bad eyes or have trouble reading.

Web Safe means these fonts are in most devices. If they’re not, the type face will revert/default to Arial, which might have been good in 1980 but it’s very passe now.

Pictures draw the eye. Words SELL.” If they are past age 45 and have reduced eye focus capability, they’re not reading. They’re leaving! This prospect is frustrated and is going to look at other Dealer’s websites.

The web page designer doesn’t know this. It never occurred to him./her.  S/He’s been told to make it “beautiful.” He/She is young with good eyes. The issue never occurred to his/her mind!

Very few items sell based exclusively on photos and the web page design has little to do with their decision.

The Young people are still seeking employment. They can’t afford to buy a car, and ensure it, and maintain it. They’re really trapped. Many of them came from a diluted educational system intended to “dumb down America.” They compete with many more American-born and Asian-born prospects who read, and write  better, and do math calculations in their head.

I’m very sad to admit to this, but that’s what the modern Educators were then and still are “hotly debating.”

On January 8, 2022 President George W. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind act at Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio. Even before that time the issue was hotly debated. Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling by NY City School Teacher of 30-years John Taylor Gatto made clear that our compulsory schools were falling behind schools in poorer nations in Africa and South East Asia.

The New York State better high schools graduated college level 17 and 18-year-olds who understood business and government law, history, geography, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus; some learned how to produce mechanical and blueprint drawings, they played musical instruments, they studied business math and accounting or “book keeping.”

By 1968, most of those courses were gone! Now the young people understand nothing about how our government works. They think if they want to see a change they must start a riot and burn a few buildings!

Those people are not getting hired and can’t buy cars!

The “middle age” and older ones have the discretionary income and saved money with which to buy a new or pre-owned vehicle.

Many websites have tiny gray print on a strange colored background because “techy’s” think the page must be “beautiful.” That means “beautiful” according to a graphic artist or a lunatic with tattoos all over and multi-colored hair.

These technicians have never sold anything, never taught anything, and they have the entire sales concept upside down.

I have many articles to offer about marketing, selling, and making the best use of the Internet. You’ll get more detailed understandings in those. They’ll appear listed on this page. More are added every week.

You need more customer traffic. That’s a fact borne out by the economic statistics.

I know what’s going on with the economics of NY City and all over the US and Canada. England and Europe are also in dreadful shape.

Some of the dealers I write to have a huge inventory and a mortgage on a new bigger “facility.” They’re up to their eyes drowning in debt. They need someone to help rescue them. I don’t see anyone else coming to the rescue with a Shopper’s Magazine concept. It’s me or it’s no one.

I might be arriving just in time. I am applying all the ideas I have seen and can lay hands on to gain many more readers. I expect the combination I’m using to be revolutionary in the marketing world.

For YOU this is going to be like buying into an Initial Public Offering for a company destined to rise for years. Get in on the ground floor.

That group is linked below this letter. The group page works a little like a blog. It displays ad (including yours) and the links point to your details page.

On The Automobile Dealers page, scroll down some more and look at who is listed. Click on any ad, yours particularly, and see what you find.

There’s a second page of Auto Dealers coming along, but I want to wait a while before releasing that one. I would like YOUR business to be advertising early.

Some websites have a lot of info to draw from. Some don’t, and no ad copywriter can write in a vacuum. We need information and clear photos produced by a pro photographer.

I’ve done what I could to make good looking pages that are easy for older eyes to read, and of course you’ll see I disagree with a lot of “web technicians” who actually know NOTHING about advertising, ad writing, marketing, or sales. Many of them, in my opinion, want to charge $90 per hour to produce pages that cry out for improvement, and waste fortunes.

The web pages “agencies” comprise the most confused “cottage industry” I’ve ever seen. They all are experimenting, testing and trying this and that with your money. They discuss it in online “communities.” They cannot A/B split test anything so it’s all try and see what happens.

We know some things about these people. A large ad agency ran a seminar for these young women and men “web developers.”

Before sending out seminar advertising, they wanted to know what these people needed to learn and what problems they had with customers.

The survey revealed that almost all of them have never sold anything and would never think to do so. They are introverted personalities. They love their mathematics and hiding crouched over their computer monitor writing computer code. They think “Beautiful Pagescan sell anything.

The best advertising minds in the world, working in direct sales including mail-order sales, and sales from websites advertised in any medium, tell us, “Pictures draw the eye. WORDS SELL.”

Compare that to “web developers” making yellow print on a lighter yellow background surrounded by flashing blue borders around ads or other boxes, and you realize quickly, those silly tricks sell nothing.

Who has the discretionary money? Generally people age 45 and older have discretionary income. Young people are struggling to stay employed, housed and fed! They can’t be buying very many cars in today’s market. …Or… they buy them and return them which only gives you more work and headaches!

I was surprised to see, in today’s market a Lincoln dealer offering a vehicle for close to $75,000. That grew me a new gray hair!

I imagine in a year or two the driver will be able to talk to the car, tell it what she wants and it will provide the scent, the music, warm her feet, warm her seat, and drive her home safely through a cold, dark night.

It might run several health checks on her blood pressure, heart rate and temperature and come to a conclusion based upon her health history.

It will signal to open the garage door, roll her in, shut the engine down, close the garage door, and before arrival it will call her partner to say she’s not feeling well and needs help getting out of the car and into the house.

I think that’s a good idea, because most drivers have trouble enough with the stereo. Do we really expect them to run a computer for their car? I expect 5% will, and the rest of those customers never will.

Who designed the present Lincoln? Technician-Engineers, artists, and interior decorators who have never sold anything, of course.

I insist they have an extremely low social Intelligence Quotient. They have no idea what the customer really needs and wants. They engineered an expensive fabulous vehicle and don’t understand why it’s not selling! They’re not going to listen to me! YOU Tell ‘em!

Now we have stories from economists that many people buy a car, and then return it because they can’t pay for the loan, and the car insurance, and everything else that goes with owning and maintaining a vehicle.

There’s nothing wrong with YOU or your sales people particularly. What’s wrong is that the economy has been mishandled by people worth Billions. People like George Soros and his fiends who want a new world dictatorship.

Who is paying for and planning all of this?

Behind the terrible drugs entering the country, and drug lords and bloodthirsty Satanists crossing the borders of Mexico and California and Texas, chasing people out of their apartments into the streets in Chicago, stealing stuff, doing unprintable evil deeds to pretty young woman, and the riots that ruined beautiful department stores in Manhattan, and destroyed parts of the shopping districts in Philadelphia and other cities, the ones paying for the movement of people and the planning of all of this was, and still is, George Soros and a few other very big corporation CEO’s who take home over 200-Million dollars per year.

This is not a secret. They do their evil openly and no one lifts a finger to stop them!

They were the ones who launched “EVERY Child Left Behind” program into our teacher’s union magazines, and local big and small town education politics.

If you’re asking yourself, “Why would they betray their own country?” It’s a question with very deep and dark answers. Read Jonathan Cahn’s latest books “Return of the gods” and The Dragon’s Prophecy.

I’\m pushing back. I might land in a lot of hot water about this but if some of us won’t stand up and push back we’ll watch while “the bigs” eat the US alive! I’ll trust Almighty God to protect me. I’m speaking up.

Have you forgotten the unthinkable 9-11 event, or the sudden destruction of several food processing plants?

What happened to all the missing meats, sausages, cheeses, and spaghetti sauces?

Do you know “the bigs” are buying up all the farmland and selling ONLY genetically modified vegetable seeds? Those plants produce seeds that the next year produce weeds. Farmers are forced to buy seeds again from Monsanto or Archer-Daniels Midland.

Impoverished farmers in India and Asia sow these seeds and end up committing suicide because they’ve worked so hard and now they’re bankrupt. American farmers are sometimes forced into bankruptcy and give up farming. Big banks and people like Bill Gates buy their land. To them it’s an investment intended to make them richer and more able to control others.

Did you think the Covid-19 experience was accidental? If you thought “yes” you haven’t been reading the material in the medical world that I read regularly.

They can control the food we eat, what food is available in the markets, and the medicine we buy, and the diseases we get, and the banking and stock market, and the political lies even the youth believe to be truth.

They DO control the new bitterly immoral behavior and illegal politics including the outcome of elections, and wars that should never have begun.

They can, and ARE, handing these beloved United States and Canada to the Chinese Communist Party. In exchange they walk away richer, and give us the finger while they go.

I can only pray and hope the nation will rebuild its middle class under a new conservative and honest Presidency after this November.

They do this because GREED for more money and what it buys is more important to them than the future hopes and dreams held by your daughters and grandsons.

That’s why I thought up this concept for a magazine that men like and women love. To some degree this will solve your future developing difficulties.

There is so much going on at once, to predict the future with any accuracy seems impossible. In the meanwhile You have to continue to make your living and I have to help you have more customer traffic.

Women do almost 80% of all the shopping. They often push their husbands to go out and buy a different car, so of course we must cater to their desires to roll another car off the lot.

Most of those people are financially successful and were prepared for the developing economic disaster. They were warned and know where to move their money to come out of this richer.

The magazine primarily covers some travel, local vacations, clothing fashion, and where to buy better and more expensive items.

What? Steve, Why aren’t you promoting to the lower middle income class?

Because the middle income class is disappearing. The lower income group is struggling to stay fed, lit and warm. The upper income group is buying cars and expensive clothing and jewelry to wear while out dining in expensive restaurants. These days even a tall sandwich at a Manhattan Jewish Deli can be expensive. What is not? So, don’t expect to make money running a dollar-store. It ain’t gona fly.

The young people who can barely read and write are busy with their expensive cell phones. The phone keeps them entertained, but they can’t afford fur coats and many can’t afford cars!

This represents a big problem. Only a very few have been saying much about this. We in the advertising business must also consider economics, and….

  • Who can afford to buy what?
  • Who are your customers and
  • What are they doing about careers?
  • What are their ages and incomes?
  • What are they searching for?
  • What are their personal hidden requirements?
  • What for them is the right message?
  • What for them is the right time and place for this right message?

They think this is beautiful.

I think they’re lost in space.

They know what they deem is beautiful or stylish and they’re wasting your money like a girl with Daddy’s Credit Card.

I repeat; They don’t like people and they’ve never sold a thing in their lives! They are the last people on Earth I would employ to write my advertising!!!

Pictures draw the eyes. Words SELL. If they can’t read the words, they’re not buying. Eventually, if they can’t read at all, we’ll have to read to them from audio files on the website!

The fact remains, you must expect to cater to older folks with more money to spend and invest.

What I have for you to see is a model to show what the magazine is becoming. There will be more and more pages viewable in the following days. Most of the material is written. I want to go over each page one last time to be sure all the details are right before I change the page from “Privately Published” to “Available For Public Viewing.”

I’m working over every page again, checking spelling, grammar, sentence structure, sales phrases, testing links, making sure every detail is right so it looks well and reads the right message to the right audience at the right time.

In future some pages will be improved with new software I’m learning to use. One of those pages may be yours, and the intent is that you and the viewing public will be pleased with the improvements, because they’re phoning in for an appointment with a salesperson, and you’re seeing a larger visitor count.

I want to encourage you to check the web page counter (bottom left) to see progress every couple of weeks. Check to see that your page is gaining viewers and also see that the website is showing overall improvement.

I’m sure you’ll realize I’m working diligently, and have been for more than a year on this project, and many of those work days ran 10 and 12 hours.

What happened with the 2-year TV Production Degree? I finished it and continued selling advertising. Then I returned to Long Island and took studies in Human Physiology at State University of New York Stony Brook campus.

They were telling me to matriculate into their Medical College. It didn’t feel right for me. Maybe I knew too much about the darker side of medicine….

I can assure you, I have been studying the writings of some of the greatest men and women in the advertising business since I was age 15. Actually I got my feet wet in “sales” starting at age 8 or 10. I was showing boxes of holiday greeting cards. I broke my fear of tapping on front-doors, discovered the neighbors wouldn’t kill and eat me, and decided sales was a pretty good career.

Before I could say more than “Maybe” I was matriculated into Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. But I really never stopped selling the differences and benefits comparing me and “Brand X”, which caused my little practice in a little village in South West Washington State to keep me very busy.

After 23-years of leaning on painful backs I decided I’d had enough of this career direction, and returned to selling advertising, where I did well and enjoyed the work.

I’m still learning, more about advertising, reading the great names in the business, and developing some of my own material and style.

When I teach something, it’s not me who originally wrote and tested it. You won’t have to read 20 books and write 200+ sales letters to test and re-test to learn this. That’s my job.

Advertising should earn a profit. If you’ve burned thousands of dollars advertising in newspapers you might wonder how anyone would dare speak such an opinion.

I don’t need a big printing plant. My magazine is available 24-hours and 365.25 days per year.

Every minute we’re available to provide

  • the right information to someone who wants answers to his or her questions. We are always there to provide the
  • right message to
  • the right audience at
  • the right time for that reader, and
  • it always looks fresh as new.

I don’t know any other paper or magazine that reaches the public with the right message just when they want it. The yellow pages phone directories did something like that long ago, but most of them gave up believing their business would be killed by Google. But Google doesn’t have the right answer either! (more about them later.)

Consequently, my operating costs are low, and even when I reach an audience of 2-Million Readers it will still be lower than printing and distributing mountains of paper, and the product will be more effective and efficient than anything in print! … BECAUSE….

  • I can change a page,
  • a photo,
  • a price, or
  • make a big bold headline about a price reduction, or Spring Sales Event
  • Or a new vehicle model coming out in September.

Even after the product is “published’ here at my desk, I can change it; sometimes within a few minutes of the request. No paper can do that.

When you scroll down you’ll see at the bottom of almost every page, that web page counter in the lower left corner.

This is revolutionary but none of the web technicians ever sold any advertising space, so they never realized what this “web visits counter” can do!!!

This was like giving the gift of making a fire to a primitive man, and never showing him how to use the fire to make ceramic cooking pots, cook food, and make soap and hot water!

I used to visit a Chinese Restaurant owner who gave away beautiful calendars. He admitted he didn’t know if these calendars were earning him any more customers!

From this moment forward you will KNOW if anyone is seeing your ad. You’ll be able to, and should, make a note of this in a ledger. Keep track of the number of visitors to the home page and to YOUR page. All you need is a pen and a piece of lined paper.

If someone asks you, “Is that ad in Newsday working?” …. Right now you can only say, “I don’t know. I hope so.”

You’re spending so much money and you can only HOPE SO?

This is crazy and you’ve been tolerating this insanity for low these many long years.

Not no moa.” You don’t have to be abused this way anymore.

If you look at your page and keep note of the date and the web counter response each month, you’ll KNOW the number of views to your page is growing.

I realize you must have some faith, and trust me. You’re presently trusting your sign and helium balloons, or a girl waking the sidewalk with balloons under her shirt.

You’re trusting newspaper ads that cost too much and you can’t burn down to dollars and cents if these newspaper ads are making you a profit or not.

History informs us, that businesses that hemorrhage money this way finally collapse!

If you are trusting what costs too much, you can reduce the money spent on papers and move some of it to my magazine, and I’m sure you’ll do much better. You might finally drop out of the Newspapers entirely. The numbers will tell you what decision to take.

We can’t expect an instant flood of new customers, but you will see the page views counter and foot traffic increasing regularly. Those who see your ad will see it several times and finally make a phone call to ask questions, and make a visit appointment.

You’ll see your sales, and profits increase. You’ll hear people say, “I saw your ad in the New York City Area Shopper magazine. I think together we are going to make Marketing History.

24 hours x 7 days is 168 hours always available to sell for you any time that is right for the prospective customer.

Can you find a salesman to run all over New York, even to New Jersey, to Milford and Boston for a measly $100/week? Probably not. Not for 59 cents per hour.

     Huh?

$100 divided by 168 hours = 59 cents per hour. No one else can or will even consider doing this for you.

You know; The same woman who buys fur coats, expensive purses, leather boots, and evening gowns also may be thinking she wants to trade in the car she has for something else.

I’ll give you much more exposure in these luxury categories, and I’ll also give you reduced pricing to be seen in weekly sales pages. You’ll be helping me afford more marketing methods. I want to repay the favor by giving you more exposure.

I will reach your potential public in other ways too, but I don’t dare reveal that plan yet. You’ll have to wait to see it. I don’t want someone else to perform my idea first!

Yes, my new friend, a big audience of 2-Million and larger IS possible and that many eyes will bring more sales and help you pay the expenses and rise up out of your worries into prosperity again.

Advertising should not cost anything. It should make a profit! It doesn’t matter whether you spend $400 or $800 each month to advertise. What matters is only your answer to the question: “Is the advertising losing money or earning a profit?”

I think we know the most likely result of the November Election. That President will turn the economics around and rescue the state and the nation.

You are No Dummy! Look at what you’ve built, which proves my assumption that you are by nature smart and ambitious. You KNOW what I’m talking about. I’ll discuss it more in a forth coming letter.

As law and order improve Businesses Like Yours will improve, more unemployed people will find new employment – and buy cars and trucks, even Earth Movers again.

I should be talking more about what the Internet is doing for you now and what it should do.

We calculated what it would cost for you to jump in with me.

$100 divided by 7 days = $14.28 per day.

Divide by 24 hours and that comes to 59 cents per hour.

Who can you hire to travel all over the city, out to Long Island, across the river to New Jersey and even into Connecticut for such a price? It’s impossible.

But with the correct handling of the Internet we can do it. Now I’m really going to break the holy doctrine….

Google is a scam! If you can’t PAY to be on page #1 you’re just wasting time and money. It’s not all bad, but as for all the hoopla about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and how you must move heaven and earth to be on page #1, it’s a con-job and most of us might burn a flaming fortune to sometimes be seen on that page.

It’s unlikely more than 2% of readers will go to page 2 and almost impossible to get them to look to page 3 and further.

Google proudly tells us they brought up over 900,000,000 ads in under a half second. Typical of a technician, he’s proud of his technical prowess, but is anyone looking and buying from page 58 and beyond? Of course not!

So….The printed phone books are mostly dead and gone. Yelp and Facebook are restrictive as to what you can see on their pages, and they not terribly attractive.

I think I am developing the answer and as I have a few faithful advertising accounts to support my effort to buy upgaded software and faster server time and other details, I can guarantee you’ll see more pages come up looking more modern, without going overboard about it.

The result will be most of those shopping ladies and men will look to New York City Area Shopper Magazine

to find what they’re looking for and they’ll always know where they can find you, your business and similar businesses in that category IN NEW YORK. We don’t need to pay to reach prospective customers in Uganda. We need them from New York City and the surrounding communities.

The phone books have died. Operations like Yelp and Face Book business pages, are… (forgive me for being blunt.) …are UGLY.

What you get on Yelp is what we called “a listing.” A listing is not an advertisement. It’s just a name and phone number, and Yelp provides little more. That means, if the reader does not know your name, he’s never likely to find you. A listing is not an ad.

Facebook is intentionally restrictive and confusing.

They are too restrictive, and very few prospective buyers look at Facebook ad pages.

From the technical side, most people attempting to use business pages can’t get photos to sit where they want them, and the “Follow” button is some sort of myth.

The follow button might be there, but I’ve spent many minutes searching for it. The truth is, the technicians there change things all the time, and never update their user’s instructions.
