You’ll note there are categories for each type of business just as the old phone directories were designed.
Now you can always enjoy a crisp, clean, and beautifully visual “like new” copy, and I will be adding to it at least 5 days each week. It’s always up to date. There’s no charge for you to visit and read through everything as often as you like.
There is no limit for the business operator as to numbers of photos and written information I can add. I do reworking for customers and make changes as required for a modest fee.
I’m learning more about use of newer page building software. Soon the appearance will be even better. Those advertisers who help me grow by getting involved early will be Well Rewarded!
The best ad writers worked in the sales end of the advertising world and spent their “free time” reading the educational works and advertising copy written by the greatest of the past (and sorrowfully gone) writers of yesteryears. I am one of those guys. I’ve been seriously interested in this work since I was age 15, That was the year 1965. In one way or another I’ve been interested in and working in advertising, marketing and sales for 59-years.
Anyone who imagines he can pull any 18-year-old off the street and train him to be a good sales agent in 3-weeks has obviously never sold anything. Anyone who thinks higher quality advertising copy writers come a dime for a dozen, has no idea what he’s talking about. I’m saying this because I watched as a CEO destroyed a multi-Billion dollar corporation. He probably had a Masters degree in finance and had never sold anything to live consumers and in home customers in his life. The end result was that a lot of investors trusted this man and their stock values vanished. I want nothing to do with that sort of stupidity!
I had two careers in my life. I love advertising, studied TV production for a couple of years in a small college in Boston, then worked selling advertising space in a magazine there and I did well and learned a lot.
The culture I come from is always pushing their children to continue more formal education. I matriculated into State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island, and then took my credits to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. I completed a BS in Human Physiology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree there. I also took night classes with a woman friend and came out with a license to practice Classic Massage
Additionally while there I took intensive studies in Nervous System physiology, and Orthopedics (broken bones, bone and joint diseases). I also taught and learned more in a Chicago massage school.
When I finally got into practice in Washington State, I continued selling to my patients explaining the differences between my practice and the practices around the community in which I was running a little clinic. The results were gratifying. I developed a large practice very quickly.
At age 50 I decided I needed to stop “leaning on back pain” patients and sold the practice, then returned to selling advertising into a big name independently published phone directory. That explains why I understand this business.
The sales work I did selling advertising space in Newspapers, magazines and a big name independent phone directory made me a better sales agent and a better advertising copy writer. The only known way to become really good in advertising Copy Writing is to follow the path of selling and writing and more selling and more writing for clients. And….
The only way I know to sell ads into a paper, magazine, or business directory is to have a copy for the customer to see. Thus we have before you a continually developing magazine as a sample and nearly everything in it from the start was “sample ads” as a way to show anyone what we can do to benefit the readers and the “merchants” and “service providers.”
Who Is Buying Higher Priced Products and Services? Pictures draw the eye. WORDS help shoppers buy. The great masters of advertising will therefore agree, if you can’t read the words you won’t buy.
For many of us past age 45, having big easily read print is necessary. We have a Website Production Industry built with and by mostly younger people who have enviable eyesight. They see tiny, thin, gray print, and often don’t think to use heavier black print compatible with Older Eyes.
These younger web editing technicians have been surveyed and the advertising industry understands that they are rather introverted. They do not have a high “Social I.Q.” number, they would never consider sales as a career, they have never sold anything, they know nothing about sales in print, advertising writing, or marketing. They tend to believe that a beautiful website sells.
A good looking web page is helpful. It should not attempt to be a movie. Generally a big, bright, bold photo is enough to draw the eye and the words do the selling. Advertising writing is an art based on a science that stems back to the early 1700s, and publishers and advertising writers and agencies have been working and testing continually ever since. We want to learn what gets the best response. We find that sometimes one word in a headline, one color change, or one concept change can improve response and that all burns down to dollars of profi.
It is egregiously unwise to write your own ad copy if you are not trained and studied for years with many practice writings and reweriting. Don’t make these sorts of mistakes.
I have made some sample ads and for the most part to avoid anyone feeling infuriated or insulted, I kept their ad copy as it was. I can do much more and better for those who request the help.
You must permit me to begin from what you have as a starting foundation, and I’ll improve on it, for a very reasonable fee.
The people with serious discretionary money to buy the better material goods our modern society offers, can’t read what is presented in tiny, thin typeface or dark yellow type set against a lighter yellow background! The artists with tri-colored hair and tattoos over half their body call this beautiful, but advertising agencies and writers call it “insanity.” In the end, we can prove repeatedly, to the penny, that Well written advertising copy Sells! Pictures draw the eye. Words Sell!
We are told HERE that nearly everyone in America owns a cell phone or smart phone, BUT what portion of the American population shops with a mobile cell or smart phone?
The statement I wanted to find is clearly expressed HERE, and this is it.
- Desktop computers are most popular with adults ages 35-65, with 69% of Gen X, 65% of Younger Boomers and 64% of Older Boomers owning these devices.
- Millennials are the only generation that is more likely to own a laptop computer or netbook than a desktop: 70% own a laptop, compared with 57% who own a desktop. {As of 2023, the millennial age range is between 27 and 42. Feb 22, 2024} This group age 28 and older are the population buying expensive cars, jewelry, clothing, travel packages, expensive hotel reservations, and dining in 4 and 5 star restaurants.
- Tablet computers, such as the iPad, are most popular with American adults age 65 and younger. 4% of all adults own this device. Why? Because the print is big enough for them to see on a tablet. Instead of going around with a cell phone in their pocket they keep a tablet in their briefcase.
To summarize all of this; Cell phones are saturating and smart-phone sales are falling. Most young people with low incomes buy them for general communication, social chatting, and entertainment. Few can afford the variety that cost over a thousand dollars. Many spend a lot of time in college and alone at home chatting and carousing with strangers. This is extremely unhealthy behavior for both body and spirit.
If you’re beyond age 45 or 50, you likely imagine that what is being taught today in high school is the same as what you learned. That’s a huge mistake.
The “No Child Left Behind” program to change American Education is graduating masses of people who are functionally illiterate. The colleges are reducing the intellectual demand on their students just to keep their business operating. The college graduates are not finding employment. They have become the Americans left behind generation. Employers are hiring foreigners who prove to be more competent!
Asians come to America and get the jobs the American younger people apply for but are considered unqualified to hold.
The young Americans are not the group that is purchasing big ticket and higher priced, better quality and luxury items. They’re not buying expensive cars, jewelry, and clothing, nor are they flying across the world, sleeping in expensive hotels, or dining in star rated restaurants.
If you are raising or housing these people the best thing you can do is buy books or computer applications that teach people to read using the “old fashioned (effective)” methods of phonics and breaking words into syllables, then sounding out the letters until it is finally understood. (You may remember the movie ” Driving Miss Daisy
The driver couldn’t read and elderly Miss Daisy taught him enough to find a relative’s grave marker in a couple of minutes. That movie was a loud call for the educational system to be reformed. No one paid much attention.
We older adults imagine that the schools our children or grand children attend are teaching about the same material as we taught. That is a gigantic mistake.
When I lived in New York I was offered a Major (in high school and the major I chooses was basic Business Administration. This was revolutionary in 1967.
I learned accounting, general law and business law, business math, and typing, in addition to the basically required subjects of physical education, music education, math, physics, chemistry, geography, and so forth. Most of this is not taught now.
The younger people can’t find major cities on a US Map, they are lost in even basic business arithmetic. The young women are not taught any sort of Home Economics course. They don’t know anything about child rasing and nutrition, or basic health-care. It’s a disaster. This is not the market that will earn your daily bread. Many of them are unemployed and can’t afford to visit yo.
I was saying that most younger people own cell phones. Older then 40 and 50 are buying tablets and laptop computers|
When software editing programs/applications/themes are presented for sale, most will remind us that they render well on cell phones. But that simply means a picture appears and then you have to scroll down to see the words that should be seen beside the photo.
In my early twenties I studied many “religions” and came to the conclusion that the only right path for me was a combination of Bible studies, both Old Testament and New. The Bible is not 2 books. It’s one big book, extended into a second “half.” What I see happening to American society is distressing.
I expect the young people might look at your clothing, Cartier watches, and Lamborghini sport cars, but they’re not buying them. They presently are struggling to survive!
The picture of the generation younger than age 25 is, for me, profoundly disturbing materially, economically, and theologically. They simply will not be the market buying cars and jewelry and very expensive clothing. Yes, some of them do buy a little bit of it because they’re convinced the world will die in 2030 and they want to have a taste of the better life, but they’re a rare fraction of the general population.
Has your web technician explained all of this to you? Of course not. They don’t know it themselves. They have developed an industry of developing websites and web pages with at this point over 15,000 pre made patterns called “web page BLOCKS.” No one will remember so many blocks. In the end, big clear photos and words do the selling and all the many blocks and moving flashing idiosyncrasies, will sell nothing.
Has your
Very obviously, merchants and marketers must focus more on serving people age 26 and older. They are those who will come to visit and pay for higher priced goods and services.
