Prices in NY City Area Shopper Magazine

for September through Spring & Summer 2025

I am trying to hold prices lower for late 2025  while we build a larger reading audience. Business advertisements are presently offered at low prices. You’re helping me grow and I’m helping you see more customers calling and walking in. I want to thank you by holding prices down.

Let’s get down to brass tacks about the US Economy.  The official report in late 2024 claimed 4.5% unemployment.

The best economists say that is a ridiculous lie. Actually, some have estimated that at least 25% of the working age population are unemployed. As changes are made to the banking system, and housing prices, there are fears that half the American population could be going homeless. I’m happy to note we did not have  — a Kamala Harris victory. (Kamala Harris for dictator. Can you imagine?)

Many are working two and three part-time jobs. That’s all they can find and they barely get by on what they earn. Probably, as in Asia, they’ll be sharing shelter with other part time workers so that everyone together can share the cost of keeping a roof over their head and sharing a bathroom.

The hope is that we can see 50% to 75% of the nation’s employable people working again. New Yorkers will always be seeking work or working because New Yorkers are resilient people. Most older Americans are resilient. The younger ones have to leave the brainwashing that was done to them behind and make their own work!

The resiliant and the business starters will wake up every day and go to work regardless of the bad reports. If they can’t find employment they’ll find a way to offer their skills to do work for themselves for cash, for payment by bank card, or for barter.

New York City Area Shopper Magazine will be here to help small businesses, including online businesses from everywhee, have more customer traffic, grow more, and hire more unemployed people. There’s something else planned. As this little business grows there will be another opportunity for struggling sisters and brothers in misery to tell the local world they’re available to help.

Helping New York City and Long Island become more  prosperous has been my intention from the beginning.

The best things you can do are;

  •  advertise in the magazine to benefit your business, and yourself, Even if you’re “financially challenged” I’ll find a way to help you. I’m not a computer. I’m a live human with a heart beat, so talk to me.
  •   help me grow a bigger customer base by sharing on social media,
  •  earn more for personal and business prosperity,
  •  and hire more help.

For a beginning I’m asking active merchants for $35.00 per week for simple ads which link to a bigger detail page. There is a page setup fee of minimum $25.00 .

The Bigger detail pages can vary by the time and effort put into making it meet your satisfaction. These are a one time charged items. I refer to this as a Page Setup Fee. It starts from $25 and can be higher according to how much additional work you want done on it. The standard page can use your words and 3 photos, each placed beside the appropriate paragraph.  Pay a little more and get much more and be included in a blog and specials pages for weekends and holidays. When I have your approval, I will run the ad and bill you. 

You will not find other magazines reaching this audience for such a low price, but don’t take my word for it. Shop and see what their prices are. Make a chart and soon you’ll have a good, clear comparison. Be sure to click on a few ads on the cover page to see how small ads link to a detail page, or to a business website page on your site.

You can send your words (called advertising copy) and up to 3 photos to me and I’ll place it into a detail page for you and use some of  it to create a section small box ad which links to the bigger detail page. We can do all of this for a starter price of just $60 and for more we’ll go a little higher but it won’t be very much more. I’m here to help, not strangle you. 

For bigger projects, which can include an article that leads to links to your advertising, we’ll negotiate to find an agreeable price. However it turns out, we’ll send a bill, or you may click the optional link to make monthly payments with a bank card starting through PayPal. I think there are better options compared to PayPal. For now, they’ll do the job.

I am presently accepting a small group of new advertisers. This will give me more time and money to get better organized with updated software that will permit me to produce better looking  pages. (I want to be able to control spacing between lines and photos better.) I’ll  get a few more jobs done here and upgrade my arrangements with a large accounting firm. I have a technician to help me with technical jobs that are beyond my capability. If you show me an example of something you like I can either duplicate it, or employ a technician to do it, or fit onto my site what you created for yours. Perhaps he can make the code work without “breaking” the site. (I am using WordPress, and the Techy “Ag” uses Elementor at WordPress. All of this is on an ASTRA theme.)

The point is, It will all get done, but might take a few days to get all the little jobs completed.

I’m planning to give extra exposure to the first few who made the decision to invest with me. You can expect more placements for your ads all over the magazine. Placing your ad at the bottom of pages gets you more exposure and more walk-in traffic.

Remember, the same people who want to buy a dinner out or jewelry or a fur coat also may be thinking of a new car purchase. 

You can choose to pay for all 12 months from the start or you can pay monthly with the addition of a slight increase to cover our accounting agency’s labor. 

12 months = 52-weeks charged at $35 per week = $1820 per year when paid at the start of the agreement. That does not include the page set up fees. 

$1820 /12 = $151.66 Per month. We can do this to start and you can change to add more advertising spaces and pages at any time. I like big Advertorial projects. I’ll be seeking journalists who write well and know how to properly use a real camera to produce articles that advertise (thus the word “Advertorial.”) These ad formats are very good for hotels and higher priced restaurants, also some higher end jewelry and fashion shops, and car dealers. Big corporations can get involved too with their own pages. These pages must have coding compatible with WordPress and the ASTRA template. I will pass that work to a technician. I write English. He writes code. I don’t touch code. 

 I have opened a Shopping Group at Facebook, and Weekly Specials Pages are coming soon. There probably will be more at YouTube and a surprise is coming that I avoid mentioning yet.

You can also contact me to make changes on your detail page for a nominal fee.

OR…. You can pay up-front $1820 and get 12 months. While your thinking of it, request being included in the weekly Specials Pages for an additional $50 per week. These will draw swarms of people into restaurants on weekends and do very well for clothing shops. 

So you;ll get your ad and a place in the weekly specials pages, which is included in the Facebook Group and any blogs we’re starting up. 

There are other “packages” that can be created. Ask me and we’ll work something out together. As I like to say, “Make me an offer I’d be foolish to refuse.”

I try to keep the advertising price low because I see so many people trying to get started in business. Their problem is, the advertising prices are so high they’re immediately shut out of the market! 

For people in real trouble, as their business grows I’ll see what I can do to help them for a very low price for 60 or 90 days. 

 I’ll help these desperate business starters earn more, get a customer base and then “buy in.” How can I be fairer than that? I can’t afford to do a lot of that at present but you can ask me and we’ll see what we can do together.  In the future it must happen in an effort to rescue individuals and help revive NY City!

I know what the economic predictions are and I must do something to help these business starters make a living and remain housed and fed!

How about a more serious offer?

Pay $1820 for the run for the year.

Add $550 for 12 months. That pays for a weekly special page ad once each month.  The usual price of $50 x 12 monthly ads is $600 Buy the package and you are getting 1 monthly ad FREE. Remind me about these offers when you write to me. include the page this is on. Just copy and paste from the address above at the top of your monetor. 

How about, — YOU Make An  Offer? Right now, we’re so new, and the economy is so flexible, everything about what you want and what I can afford, to help get you started, is negotiable. So make me a deal I can’t afford to refuse.”

I’m sure you’re better at retail pricing  numbers than I’ll ever be. Do you want to run in the Weekly Special Pages each week or every 2nd week? Would you like to pay for all of it up front and have something like;  The full run of your ad and detail page all year for $2370 and get more!

I wrote most of the ad copy for that and used their photos, then linked to their official website. I’m pleased with it. I can do the same for you, and I’m not charging (yet) for writing. A big ad agency would charge a fortune. 

For the first 10 investors, I’ll add in an advertisement in the special weekly pages every 2nd week. I’ll do 10 different merchant’s ads each month for $45.00 and you’ll get the last two months’ weekly special advertising FREE. Your total price is paid up front,

It’s a thought to mull over.  We can add more exposure and do more for your business. As we go along I’ll show you more features and offer more exposure at prices that, by New York standards, are ridiculously low.

You may add in 8 more ads through November and December to make more of the holiday period.

I’ll include for a limited time for business operators buying in and paying for the year Up-Front  ten (10)  ads in the weekly specials pages or the social medium FREE.

We both want to prove that the ads are working before you buy. Ten weekly ads is a good sampler. We can’t prove anything unless you ask when they call or walk in, “Did you find us in the Shopper Magazine? The one with the wild life and tourism photos on the cover?” If they say “yes” make a note of it on a list and keep track to complete a scientific survey that proves you are getting results. When you make this a habit you’ll have the benefits of “scientific advertising.”  You’ll know to the penny what you pay to draw in each customer.

We also have to consider, if there’s a weather or disease crisis the numbers will be off. But in any case you’ll have an idea that the magazine is beneficial and worth paying for. The US national average figure was that advertisers were paying three-hundred dollars and more to get One New Customer! That’s impossibly expensive. We need to do better and I’m sure we can.

Buy the weekly specials page positions, and I’ll include your ad running for 10 weeks in the social media I’m developing. As there is more social media activity  you can be included in those. I’m talking about Facebook, Instagram, and others. I’m keeping my cards close to the vest because I have something new planned to get more potential customers talking about YOU and Your business.

You can tell me how you want those ads scheduled and we’ll make it happen. This allows you to fit in ads for weekends, special sales, or seasonal or holiday changes, or to display new stock items you want moved off the storage shelves! 

Those  ads can appear any time if you have overstock that isn’t moving. I’m especially keen to do more for you in October, November and December in social medium AND in the weekly special pages in an effort to help you make that Holiday calendar span through the end of New Year a better experience for you. If the customers are still looking and thinking, “Is the sale still on past the first week of the New Year” we can show them your “this ad good until the end of January 5th (for example) and you’ll get more calls for that first week or 10 days. I will run the ad until the ‘Good Till’ date.  I don’t want to cut anyone off. i want MORE CUSTOMERS to call and come to you!

Push me. I’m open to your suggestions and negotiations. We’ll work up a deal to include Autumn and Winter holiday Sales Ads too. Make an offer I’d be crazy to refuse! (Just please don’t send the mob after me.)

There is a new social medium project. I can’t say more yet. It will be very helpful.

We’re not reaching the entire world. I doubt you’re getting many visitors from Estonia so why should you pay to reach such a distant readership?

 Please check the Contact Us and Advertise  page and send a note to me at Facebook,  if you need a Rush Job, This allows me to call you back through Facebook Messenger at no cost. With a Facebook call, I can wear headphones and hear you better. I can talk to you, or receive a quick message, including attached files with your ad copy and photos. 

We don’t broadcast to the entire planet. We don’t gather information about all of our viewers and sell their information as a big digital ad agency as Facebook-Meta does with it’s  Meta Agency. There are several other ad agencies with whom they do business regularly.

This gets very complicated and very expensive. Why would you want to advertise to people further away than Boston or Washington DC? Let’s not waste money advertising to Pakistan.

Why would I personally object to doing what Facebook does? Mostly because I think it’s driven by greed and it’s a horrendous intrusion into the reader’s privacy. It could be used to help the reader see more ads in which s/he is interested. It can also be used to do harm to the reader. It has a potential for evil and controlling the world population regarding what they see and what they’ll buy. I want to avoid anything to do with that.

Besides, I’m not knowledgeable enough to have that sort of sophistication attached to my magazine website.

I don’t need to earn BILLIONS of dollars. I’ll be quietly thankful if I can earn a decent living and live a decent quiet and somewhat modest life with my Filipina wife and her previously born two children living near Cebu City.

I don’t own much and there is not much that can own me.

For me, living in The Philippines, (where I have retired … ahem!) if I earn anything over 45,000 per year, it’s enough to keep my family quite comfortable. I don’t want to develop a huge digital ad agency.

We specialize in discussing THIS MAGAZINE and the sales and special offers and products sold by our advertisers in the greater New York City Area.

The NYC Area covers the North Eastern Coastline. Some viewers may read and visit you from Connecticut, New Jersey and as far north as Boston, and perhaps as far south as Washington D.C. or Annapolis.

So…. About YOUR offer:  Make me an offer I’d be crazy to refuse. Write up a package that you think is fair and make the offer. If I recognize it’s fair enough I’ll accept it.

We can re-negotiate again next year. If the US Dollar goes into hyper inflation or depression numbers, or gold is by dollar revaluation pushed to $45,000 per ounce we’ll have to negotiate different pricing. If business prices are hurting you and me we have to do what we can to be friends and level the price so it works well for both of us. Your messages or conversation helps me gauge what prices should be.

For now, if you write a deal and I like it, I’ll accept it. As they say in the Diamond District, “Mazal.” The deal is made and the negotiations are ended. But I don’t have their memory. I need it on digital paper. Write out what you want and let’s see what can be agreed.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If you think I’m not doing my job well, you can tell me via a ticket, and I’ll find ways to improve and include your suggestions.

If you think there’s no business to be had because of some other  unexpected crisis, you can cancel the special additional ads at any time. Pay for them each month with your bank card before we publish the ads. Stop and start that service whenever it fits for you. I do not want you to pay for something when you know it can’t do any good. That includes floods and snow storms. If you get snowed out tell me and I’ll adjust the charges to reflect that the snowed out or flooded out day’s charge was canceled.

As you see I’m doing my best to be distant yet provide service as if I were sharing an office desk in your building, and you’re not paying a fortune for it. 

If something happens and you want to cease paying and kill the ad, you can do that if you’ll give me at least 4 days notice. Zap a note to me through the Contact Us page or the messenger at Facebook attached to the Facebook Group page. I expect as we grow that page will have installed on it, a ticketing system to help me stay organized.

Yes, killing an ad and refunding some money would hurt me but, it is better that I don’t hurt You, so we’ll just “pause” the weekly pages and/or social medium advertisements. You can switch back to running ads again at their regular price anytime you wish. We can do the same for you if you take a 2 week vacation or longer and close the business while you’re away. You can resume the advertising when you are home again, or We can agree to use that money you would have paid, in more ads in the other special/holiday pages, blog pages, or weekend notices.  How can I be any fairer than that?

  • I may display a few pages of legal language, but it is unnecessary. I’m in The Philippines and if someone wants to sue me they’ll have a big problem finding an attorney licensed in this part of the world. Instead I’ll work this out in civilized friendly fashion. I’m not going to raise trouble over what we can work out in friendly fashion between each-other.

In a few cases a business has several locations. In that situation again, I request that you make an offer I would be foolish to refuse and let’s come to a price that is fair to both of us. One detail page can point to all of your branch locations. Or…. you can pay me to make up a detail page for each location, something like perhaps $50/month. If you want changes on one or several pages based upon its location I can do that for you at a usual $5.00 per minute.  10-minutes would cost $50. If I’m taking more time over details and copy writing, it might come to a bit more but compared to what other copy writers and ad agencies charge it’s still a tremendous bargain.
