Here Are Several Cogent Reasons To Advertise In

NYC Area Shopper Magazine

A Valuable Understanding:

Here’s Why Your Ad Should Run In

NY City Area Shopper Magazine

If you run an ad in the papers,

  • the reader may or may not see it,
  • and probably is not looking for it.
  • If she sees it, it takes her no further. There’s no link.
  • and then it is soon forgotten.
  • She doesn’t remember where she saw it

If your ad is in this shopper’s Magazine, it will be remembered simply because it is in a magazine dedicated to helping shopper’s find what they want!

So far as I know, I have the only such attractive magazine for men who want something without a search, and for women who like to shop. We’re the only one of our kind in the greater New York City Area.

We’re a mix of concepts. A fashion and local travel magazine dedicated to shopping.

We have new articles appearing. We appeal to women. Women tend to do most household shopping. (80% of shopping is done by women.) They don’t have a phone book.

The phone book companies believed that Google would kill them and by a combination of that belief and the public’s beliefs, the printed phone books died. Now, I think a few older folks wish they had a printed phone book again.

The closest they can get to a phone book is Yelp and that’s more like fast, cheap classified ads. I think it is entirely too restrictive.

Many of the possible businesses like yours are not on page 1 on Google. Google looks like it is convenient but it skips so much stuff to pages 2 through 999 that it is NOT convenient. It’s really not (in my opinion) half so great as the Google people say it is.

People in this business know if you’re not on page 1 and 2, no one will see the pages thereafter. If you run a pancake restaurant and you’re on page 2 or 3, it’s not worth you spending money to be in Google.

So, then I think, “Look, if 95% of their listings are not being seen, they are an expensive failure.”

Does that seem right to you too?

If 90 or 95% of your advertising is seen in someplace in Africa or South East Asia because it’s in Google, YouTube, or Facebook, what good is it doing you? I’d say it’s doing nothing for you. It’s hemorrhaging your money!

Ms. Shopper will remember “I saw that fur coat dealer in that magazine with all the shopping ads.” What is it? Oh yeah, New York City Area Shopper.

The name of the magazine will be in Google and as I continue to grow an audience, it will be forced onto page 1.  www.nycAreaShopper.com

We’ll soon have our own social medium for the Greater New York City Area. The readers will like it and they’ll chat with each other by voice or messaging FREE. Every time they use it they see ads in it going back to the magazine. That drives the name into their mind. They’ll never forget it.

When you consider all of what I’ve just said, you’ll realize, your ad

  • is available in the place Ms. Shopper remembers,
  •  at the right time,
  •  in the right category
  • with the message she wants to see.
  • It’s available at her most convenient time.
  • It Links her to more information
  •  and then links to Your web site, or your contact info.
  • With her cell phone she can find the magazine and you anytime and it always looks crisp and clean as new!
  • Thus in my view my price is far lower,
  • and the magazine is about 20 times more effective than any of the “traditional competition” papers and magazines.
  • I work to make your ad so effective that if you keep track of the numbers of customers coming in who say ‘I saw your ad in the magazine and that is what made me  decide to call and come in’
  • and you compare how many views your ad gets each month
  • and you run the accounting to know what the average profit is per sale, you’ll realize the ad is not costing you anything. It’s making a profit. You are actually advertising for FREE!

That’s what I’m shooting for. The famous now passed advertising genius David Ogilvy in London told his staff,  “We Sell or Die.”

We don’t do “creatives” so that people giggle. We drive a message into their mind that they remember, and we convince them they’ll have a better future WITH your help.

Your business is whatever you do, feeding people, hospitality, car sales, jewelry, clothing, tailoring, furs, leather goods, weddings.  I don’t know how to do what you do. You are known to be top drawer in your skill level and I highly respect you for that. It took you some long time to learn it.

My business since I began studying at age 15 (59-years ago) is advertising and marketing, and I just love it.

I went to college for a degree in physiology and then Chiropractic college and I licensed and did that from age 28 to 50. 32 years was long enough!

I did it well and helped many people, but I was still at least making comparison selling explanations to patients.

I compared me and what I do and my prices, versus the other Chiropractors in the community. I was still reading and studying and writing advertising.

What is advertising? It is SALES IN PRINT! That is what I do. I sell the customer to come in to see you. I sell on the printed page.

A beautiful page is effective in-so-far as it draws the eye. Pictures draw the eye. WORDS SELL.

All the young technicians cringe reading this because they are basically introverted mathematicians and artists. They’ve never sold anything in their lives and would never want to try.

They have developed an INDUSTRY around making website pages with every imaginable design. They can quickly place photos and print side by side, on diagonals, in multiple waving colors. There are at least now 15,000 page templates. BUT, THOSE TEMPLATES DON’T SELL ANYTHING.

WORDS SELL, and words come from well studied advertising word writers (called Advertising Copywriters.)

The best of them got started selling face-to-face, and business-to-business and in homes. I was one of those salesmen.

We had to sell or we’d go hungry. So we presented often. We did not knock off at 3. We worked to 5:30 and 6PM and sometimes met restaurant operators after 8:30 in the evening, and sold.

We had to sell or we wouldn’t be able to afford living expenses.

If we didn’t sell, as we drove home we went through in our minds what went wrong and “what should I have done better?”

I had my first sales experience at age 8 or 10 selling holiday greeting cards door to door. I discovered the neighbors wouldn’t kill and eat me.

I sold cookware,  travel vacations over the phone, hardware, fertilizer, lawn tractors, LPG gas BBQ units, and other stuff you use on weekends,

One day I sold to a man named Richard Levinson. He said, “You should be working for me.” Richard taught me to sell Life Insurance and I did well with that too. But later I opened another clinic and realized I had lost my love for that work.

At age 50, I decided I just did not want to massage and lean on painful backs any longer. At least not in Washington State were the laws were so restrictive.

I wanted 20-minutes per patient. The law said, “You can do that, but you still can earn only $12 per visit. In my thinking, the three minute visit was immoral. The well done visit didn’t pay enough to survive.

I knew guys who had dropped out of high school and were driving log trucks earning more than I was. Why did I do 9-years of college to earn less than they earned?

Finally at my 50th birthday I put the clinic up for sale and another Chiropractor bought the business.

I returned to selling advertising space and writing their ads. I loved it and did well selling into a magazine and into a phone book. Now I’m age 74 and still writing ads and producing this magazine which is already proving to be very effective and growing in  popularity. The readership numbers are growing constantly.

Right now with Biden Economics running the show, “money is expensive,” so don’t waste it buying ineffective newspapers and magazines.

Shift some money out of newspapers and into my publication. Especially as we move into October and beyond you will find we have more traffic and You’ll  get better response at a much lower price by running your ads in NYCAreaShopper.com
